What Makes a House a Home?

For me, our home is our fortress, our sanctuary to find peace and even escape from all the problems in the world.

So what makes a house – or an apartment, a villa, even a dormitory – a home? Decorated by an interior designer? Special covers over expensive satin sheets? Elegant lampshades, lighting systems? In fact, none of them are. Because the feeling of being “at home” is not something that can be bought. It is the love that makes a house a home, perhaps the shining eyes of the person opening the door when you knock, the smell of cake baking in the kitchen. Our mood in relation to our home stems from the close relationship between us and our most personal place. Like any other love adventures, it shapes us as we shape it. We spend not just money on our homes, but also our time and creativity, and in return, they provide us with comfort, pleasure, and happiness. We all know very well that spiritual fulfillment is essential. I hope that everyone who reads this article finds peace and happiness in their home, and I’m going to give you five tips on how you can create a cozy and welcoming environment with just a few small touches.

1.Get rid of the excess. Crowded furniture creates clutter and stress. Keep useful things in your home. Excess furniture blocks the flow of energy in the home, and unnecessary materials in cabinets or shelves may also block energy. You can give the clothes and items you no longer use to those in need. The moral satisfaction this gives you is also very crucial.

2.Get a rocking chair to your home. Yes, you heard it right. The act of rocking has been proven to relieve people psychologically. Apart from the rocking chair, you can also get a one-person interior-designed swing, which is widespread today.

3.Winter is coming. The time has come when going out is no longer a pleasure, when we stay at home, coffee in hand, TV in front of us. Soft textured textiles especially helps you cope with winter depression. There’s no way you can’t feel relaxed under the thick, soft blankets.

4.Personalize your walls to suits your style. Walls full of your favorite paintings, pictures, and photographs increases your energy. You can hang a painting that makes you feel warm when you look at it or a framed photo that reminds you of your happy memories.

5.Small piles of pillows on the beds and rows of bath oils next to the bathtub are two of our best sanctuaries. Primate studies suggest that this desire for a private sanctuary is not a luxury, but a deep biological need. Monkeys look for a safe base that lowers their stress hormone levels when they need some rest. Considering that we primates start our lives in a safe nest with our mothers, this makes sense. And don’t forget that flowers and candles turn the meal into a feast and give you that lovely feeling. Pampering ourselves at home is all about the little details. Don’t withhold this from yourself.
