STRESS INCUDED SKIN PROBLEMS

Hello everyone,

After a challenging month of February, we leave winter behind and turn to spring. We left behind a month in which we were all deeply hurt and grieving. Sadness, stress, or anxiety not only affect our mental health but also affect and damage our skin. In this issue of the season, I would like to inform you, dear readers, about the damage and healing processes caused by stress or sadness on the skin.

First of all, stress disturbs the hormonal balance of the skin. Due to the increase of these hormones called cortisol and adrenaline, the skin loses water. When not enough water is absorbed, the dryness of the skin increases. If this reactive drying of the skin is not stopped early, the dryness continues to overgrow and damage the skin barrier. Thus, skin exfoliation starts first, and if you are predisposed, it causes skin diseases such as eczema. I want to remind you not to neglect your water consumption when stressed. If you also suffer from skin dryness problems, I recommend using household products with intense moisture. If your dryness problem is advanced and has developed into a skin condition such as eczema, I recommend you take the necessary treatment measures and consult a specialist. In addition, moisturizing skin care treatments that you routinely have performed by a specialized beautician will also positively support your treatment process.

Another problem is that stress and sadness accelerate the aging process. Yes, you heard it right. Stress accelerates your aging process. The hormone cortisol increases when stressed, slowing down blood flow. The nourishment of skin cells is affected by the slowing of blood flow. As a result, collagen production in the skin decreases. This causes the skin to age. Taking good care of our skin is in our hands, which is negatively affected by sudden mood swings. With some collagen-boosting products that you use at home, you can improve the quality of your skin and, at the same time, provide the necessary anti-aging effect that your skin needs with various vitamin-containing products. In addition, you can slow down the aging of your skin with anti-aging treatments that you can have performed by a specialized beautician.

Stress, as we all know, can lead to an increase in acne and blackheads. Although we cannot say that it directly affects it, the sebaceous glands produce more sebum due to a stress-related hormonal imbalance. Sebum production makes the skin oily and more prone to acne. If you have skin prone to blackheads, you will feel this awareness even more intensely. With these processes, you should give significant importance, especially skin cleansing. You should cleanse and use tonic on your skin at least twice a day. The cleansers you use must be in gel form. Cleansers in gel form rid the skin of oil, giving it a more vibrant appearance. The tonics you prefer should contain fruit acid, i.e., AHA-BHA. Such products soothe acne and also clean the pores. You should also support your treatment process with exfoliating treatments that you will do routinely.

Our skin is most affected by our different emotional states. While stress causes dry skin in some of us, it causes oiliness and even acne in others. Remember that our skin is our treasure, and we must take good care of it. Therefore, do not neglect your routine care and household products recommended by experts. We should pay attention to water consumption and, above all, develop methods to cope with stress or sadness. We will go through this process together. Until we see you again in our next article, take good care of yourself and your skin.
