Recently, we had a nice conversation with a very engaging, nice group of women about my philosophy of aesthetics and beauty. In the conversation, the subject came to curious questions and aesthetic experiences.
The following story was told; One of her friends told me that after her breast augmentation surgery, her doctor decided on the breast size and he/she did not ask her about this before the surgery (I think it was discussed, but it is not important) and asked me the question that you all wondered about.
Should plastic surgeons determine the size of our breasts? Or should we determine for ourselves?
That question has two answers: yes and no.
Yes, you should determine what is best for your own body, because;
This is your breast, you have a natural right to have this breast look the way you want it to, and yes, your disposition about your breast belongs to you, a woman can describe her breast size. When I am preparing for a patient's surgery, I always ask what kind of breast size they would like and even try to understand what kind of female image they have in their social life, such as whether they have an athletic style, a sexy and vampire style, a sports life or a more prominent style. By understanding the patient and paying attention to what they have to say, I can get an idea of what size breast they should have.
No, we, plastic surgeons should determine breast size because;
Breast augmentation is not just about how many ccs of implants.
The parameters that we consider when deciding on breast size include volume, height, weight, shoulder width of the woman's breasts, arm length (yes, you heard correctly; arm length is also important in breast implants because the posture of your breast should be in harmony with your arm length), location of your under-breast fold, posture of your nipple, and whether you are young, mature, or old.
It is not right for my patients to think that they can have a more natural breast result by thinking "let's have the smallest size implant cc". Or, they come up with a lot of false hearsay urban legends such as "I want under the muscle, I always want the under the breast, whether my implant is round or drip, I've read on blogs that this is the most natural method".
In this digital age, where this kind of information pollution is passing by, I am unable to even be angry with my clients because they are doing their part at least (it is good to investigate)
Shall we take a more technical approach to the matter?
For instance, a 300 cc implant might be too small for a woman who is 180 cm tall, whereas a 180 cc implant might be too large for a woman who is 155 cm tall.
The natural size of a woman's breast in her 40s is different from the natural size of a woman in her 18th year even though they are the same height since body proportions alter with age.
No matter if the implants are round or teardrop, the appropriate application in the right patient produces natural results. Therefore, it cannot be said one way or the other.
The first experience for you is a thousand and more for me because I have had this procedure thousands of times with its natural and good outcomes, and I am aware of the long-term effects and change pattern of an implant in a woman's breast. As a result, it is crucial to seek advice from specialists and rely on their knowledge.
In other words, this is not a two-person tug-of-war where the stronger person wins. Rather, it is a pleasant journey where a woman sits down with a plastic surgeon and seeks out a healthy, natural, and young breast with reasonable and understandable expectations because a woman's common sense is always the best.
